ROUND THE ISLAND RACE RESULTS Monday 25th January 2016
The Round The Island Race 2016 was sailed on Saturday, January 16.
Only a small fleet of 10 boats took part but had a very enjoyable and close race in sparkling weather, 15 dropping to 12 knots breeze and calm seas. All competitors flew their spinnakers.
The results in racing division A were so close almost a tie, with the first three boats separated by only 4 minutes and the winner (Liquid) beating second place (Sleeper) by half a minute - after seven hours of racing.
Taz won the fastest elapsed time and Tim Goodbody in a Laser set a new dinghy record.
The after race results party was also thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Starting with the rum see-saw weigh-in, Richard Archer equaling six cases of rum, then an international penny potting competition and finally the traditional “queen” show. Three beautiful “ladies” from Liquid, Cricket and Blue Peter were all being judged equally pretty as queens for the year.
