The Antigua Yacht Club invites sailors to compete in the 6th Edition Sandy Island Race, taking place on Saturday 24 January 2026. This offshore and partially navigational race covers an approximate 30-mile course from Falmouth Harbour to Sandy Island and back, with racing expected to last 5β7 hours depending on conditions.
The event is open to all yachts, whether members of AYC or not, and is run in conjunction with Jolly Harbour Yacht Club. Boats will race under the Racing Rules of Sailing, using CSA ratings and Race Ratings, with dual scoring and prizes awarded for both systems. A minimum crew of two persons is required per boat.
Racing will begin at 10:00am AST sharp, with combined class starts from both Falmouth Harbour and Jolly Harbour. The course includes virtual marks and GPS tracking is required for course verification.
A Skipperβs Briefing will be held on Friday 23 January at 6:00pm at Antigua Yacht Club for Falmouth starters, with a separate briefing arranged by JHYC for Jolly Harbour boats. Sailing Instructions will be available online and distributed by email at least 24 hours prior to the race.

Prizes will be awarded by class, with a perpetual trophy presented to the overall winner. Prizegiving will take place at the AYC Upper Deck following the completion of racing.
