NORTH AMERICAN OPTIMIST DINGHY CHAMPIONSHIPS Tuesday 31st March 2015
The North American Optimist Dinghy Championships will be held in Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua, over July 5th - 12 2015.
Canada, St. Lucia & USVI already registered, with enquiries from Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Cuba, Bermuda, New Zealand, Japan, Germany and the US. Ten more Countries expected to participate.
 Join the growing list of volunteers and become a buddy to a team from a foreign country. 175 eight to fifteen year old competitors need your help with the launch and recovery of their dinghies in Nelson's Dockyard. Call 725 2840 to volunteer or e-mail optimists@yachtclub.ag.
If you can't volunteer, join the welcoming celebrations and the march from the yacht club into Nelson's Dockyard accompanied by Mas Troupe, Iron Band and other local entertainers. Help Antigua welcome hundreds of overseas visitors.

The event has its own exciting logo which displays the Antigua & Barbuda flag on a sailing Optimist. Local businesses may apply to use the logo on merchandise.
Antigua Rainforest, Stingray City and Shirley Heights Lookout are assisting with the entertainment of our visitors when there is no racing and Wadadli Cats will be taking spectators out to the race course off English Harbour.
The Government, through the Ministries of Tourism, of Finance and of Sport, are facilitating the running of the Championships in numerous ways including by supplying transport, relief from duties and taxes and assisting with other items such as shipping and clearance.
These championships are a template for future similar events and Antigua knows how to put on a good sailing event. This one will be extra special.
