ANTIGUA YACHT CLUB

Three youths from Antigua took part in the Lake Garda Optimist Meeting in Italy recently and were the among the highlights of the event. Louis Bavay, Rocco Falcone and Vincent Anfi represented their country with great honour and were true ambassadors of the nation. The young sailors were interviewed by numerous TV channels about their homeland and the beautiful Antiguan flag.

Racing in the freezing cold waters of Lake Garda, Italy the young men put their skills to the test amongst 1,200 fellow sailors.  Rocco started with blistering speed placing 6th out of over 200 in the first race; Louis placed 21st while Vincent placed 197th in the same race. The cold weather proved to be their demise and with freezing hands the sailors found it difficult to continue their impressive start.

The final results were still exceptionally impressive however.  Overall results saw Rocco place 350th, Louis 450th and Vincent 850th over 1,000. The youngsters gave it their all for the entire regatta and deserve high praise for their efforts.
