ANTIGUA'S YOUTH SAILORS EXCEL IN PUERTO RICO Tuesday 5th February 2013
The Antigua Yacht Club/National Sailing Academy sent six youth sailors to compete in the Optimist classes in the Club Nautico de San Juan 12th International Regatta 2013 last weekend. Remarkably, all six youths finished in the top 10 in their class.
Daniel Smit finished first out of 23 sailors in the Optimist Green fleet with 16 races scored. Also finishing in the top 10 in that fleet from Antigua were Maria Eldridge in 6th place, River Andrews in 7th place and Jalses Gorden in 9th place.
In the Optimist Advanced (Blue) fleet two Antiguans competed among a group of 18 sailors. Finishing in first place was Rocco Falcone of followed immediately behind in second place by Louis Bavay also of Antigua.
What a fantastic showing by our Antiguan youths! Congratulations to all of you and thanks for making Antigua proud!
