ANTIGUA YACHT CLUB

 The Mini Dinghy Regatta and Barts Bash recently took place at the Antigua Yacht Club, bringing together sailors of all ages for a day of competitive racing in Falmouth Harbour. Governed by the 2021-2024 WS Racing Rules of Sailing, the event featured a range of classes, including ILCA 7, ILCA 6, ILCA 4, Optimist, Zest, and Feva.

With setup and a briefing starting at 8:30 a.m., sailors were eager to hit the water for the first race, which began shortly after 9:30 a.m. A total of five races were held, following a trapezoid and windward/leeward course outlined in the sailing instructions.

The competition was fierce, but the top sailors emerged victorious. Prizes were awarded to the top three in each class, with the following results:

With less than four boats in certain classes, only first place was awarded where applicable. This regatta also served as a qualifier for the Caribbean Dinghy Championships, set to take place in St. Maarten from October 25-27, with the top finishers securing their spots.

The event was a success, showcasing the talent and dedication of Antigua’s young sailors, and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among participants. Congratulations to all the competitors!
