TIGER TYSON HEADS TO OLYMPICS Friday 3rd November 2023
Antiguan Tiger Tyson occupies the Olympic qualifying spot after 12 races at the Pan American Games in Chile. Tyson is second overall in the Formula Kite competition
Tiger has officially got Antigua and Barbuda into the Paris Olympics 2024. He gained an overall Silver Medal place at the Pan American Games in Chile but gained the Olympic ticket by winning the North American division (USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean). We are all very proud of this amazing achievement after many battles this week and immense stress pushing to the limit. This has been years of hard work, dedication and commitment but there is much more to come with the aim of achieving a medal place in the Olympics which would be Antigua and Barbuda’s first-ever Olympic medal!
This dream started when he and I went to see table tennis (of all things) at the London Olympics in 2012. He was 10 years old. Then we discovered that kiteboarding was going to be in the Youth Olympics in 2018. He started seriously training in when he 13 years old to qualify and compete in that when he was still 15. He then went on to qualify and compete in the Pan American Games in Peru at 16 years old. He narrowly missed medals in both those events. He got Gold in the Central American and Caribbean Games last year and now has Silver in Chile. Paris Olympics is next…
