SOPRANO, FEDERICA VITALI WILL SING IN APRIL
Thursday 29th March 2018

Federica studied music privately with Maestro Davide Rocca and has attended many International Master classes with world renowned singers, including Monserrat Caballe and the conductor Riccardo Frizza. She now studies under the guidance of Elisabetta Battaglia.

This young soprano has won prizes and awards internationally, including Young Singer of the Year at the Spiros Argiris Competition and for the role of Violetta from "La Traviata" at the Teatro Filodrammatici in Milano. Federica was also a finalist at the Maria Callas International Competition. In 2010 she made her debut as Clarina in "Il Cambiale de Matrimonio", followed by Serpina in "La Serva Padrona" and Adina in "Elisir d’Amore".

2015 saw Federica as Violetta in Puccini's "La Boheme" and she went on to create the role of Malvy in the World Premiere production of "Una Di Vino Commedia" by Oscar winner, Luis Bacalov in Milano, conducted by the composer himself. In the Spring of 2016, Federica took the role of Musetta (La Boheme) for AsLiCo in Como, Sondrio, Bergamo and Rome. In August she made her debut as Micaela in Bizet's "Carmen" in Switzerland. Later that Autumn, Federica appeared at the Verdi Festival in Parma under the direction of Leo Muscato and conductor Simon Krecic.

Last year she sang Sacerdotessa in Verdi's "Aida" while this year she will take on the role of Cio-Cio San in "Madame Butterfly". Federica's extensive repertoire also includes major leading roles in "I Masnadieri", "Turandot", "I Pagliacci", "Don Giovanni" and "Cosi Fan Tutte”.

The Sailing Academy is an open air venue and has a large capacity. For those, particularly with family, wanting a more local and party atmosphere on more casual lines this would be great for them. The AOS do not think that this performance is suitable for young children, but at the same time want to encourage teenagers and young adults, especially with a musical interest, to come and experience something new. To this end, The Society would like to offer a special price of US$15 / EC$40 at the gate for all between the ages of 10 and 18.

The Antigua Opera Society is a newly registered charity offering Opera Performances on island and all profits will go to support musical and vocal education of children in Antigua and next year’s intended production. Plans for 2019 include, for the first time ever, a full Opera in March/April and discussions for this are already in motion. Their Excellencies Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams are the Society’s Ambassadors and are firmly and actively supporting the objectives of the Antigua Opera Society.
