SEAFOOD FIESTA GRILL-OFF COMPETITION RECEIVING SIGNIFICANT RESPONSE Thursday 28th October 2010
The grill –off competition among chefs within the hotel sector was introduced as a mechanism support other measures instituted among key sectorial stakeholders to bridge the agro –tourism gap. The grill –off competition also serves as a highlight of the event and is further aimed at demonstrating ways in which residents could enhance and promote sustainable livelihood.
To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment has forged linkages with the National Culinary Team, and Chef World to get the grill –off competition off the ground. Already, at least one member of the national culinary team has registered for the competition. The holder of the 2010 Wadadli chefs’ grill –off title has also confirmed his participation. Several other chefs within the hotel sector have also come on board.
The invitation to professional chefs to enter the Seafood Grill –Off Competition is still opened, for the event which is being staged for the first year among professional chefs, ranging from chefs du partie to juniors, featuring seafood.
These chefs are expected to compete for the prestigious Minister’s Award for Best Chef, and the special Most Innovative Chef Prize from Chef’s World, prizes is also offered for 2nd and 3rd place.
Chefs are required to create 3 portions, of one dish prepared from a
mystery basket.
The deadline for registration is Thursdays October 28th.
