The Antigua & Barbuda Waste Recycling Corporation (ABWREC) has begun the production of a Recycling documentary last Thursday. The main objectives of this 30 minutes documentary is to disseminate information pertaining to the setting up of a similar facility, sourcing funds , sourcing markets for the trading of the recycled materials, the involvement of civil society and the collaboration/assistance from local government and other lessons learnt. It is anticipated that copies of the documentary will be given or shared with other countries of the OECS, others in the region and international countries which are desirous of embarking upon their own recycling programmes or facilities.
The documentary will feature interviews with the Prime Minister and Minister Daniel (the minister in charge of the National Solid Waste management Authority, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown, business owners such as the Grand Pineapple Beach Hotel and Jumby Bay Hotel, school children and homeowners. The production cast is consisted of Ann-Marie Browne (former Carnival queen as the host and narrator), Chris Hodge, Joel Barnes and Hani Hechme of Cinque Production, produced and directed by ABWREC’s manager Carol-Faye George. The project was funded by the UNDP GEF small grant Programme. The script was written by Joanne Hillhouse and Carol-Faye George .
