ANTIGUA'S YEPTON ESTATE COTTAGES

Dear Friends of Yepton Estate Cottages, just a short update of what happened during Irma and Maria.

While I was away during Irma, Douglas and Mackie (our wonderful friend and gardener/painter/electrician) dealt with boarding up and trimming trees ahead of the storm. The aftermath was landscaping related damage which they brought under control shortly after the hurricane. Then it was time for Maria for which I was here. I am told it was fiercer and lasted longer than Irma. Having lived through Louis In 1995, I was scared. And yet, because the more vulnerable trees had already lost many branches during Irma, there was little additional landscape damage. Even our pool which was black from
thousands of leaves is, thanks to Douglas’ diligent work throughout, already clear.

Our heart goes out to the people of Barbuda, Dominica, St. Martin, St. Croix and the many other small and big islands that were so terribly affected by these storms. We so hope and pray that help comes swift and complete so you can rebuild your lives. To those of you who lost loved ones, we extend our deepest sympathy.

For Antigua and the islands who were saved from catastrophe, we hope that the USA – who has had their own share of devastation – Canada, England and the rest of Europe do not forget us and visit us this fall and winter. Antigua and Yepton Estate Cottages are ready for you.

Lastly, we want to thank our wonderful friends and guests for the hundred or so emails and Facebook messages before, during and after the hurricanes to inquire about our wellbeing and offering to help Barbuda by contributing to one of the worthy organizations recently posted on AntiguaNice.
