Cocobay Resort a boutique Hotel in Antigua, is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Head Chef, Host/Hostess and Reservations & Digital Marketing Agent.

VACANCY – HEAD CHEF

Requirements:

•    Minimum ten years proven experience as a Head  Chef
•    Great attention to detail and creativity
•    Organizing and leadership skills
•    Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
•    In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
•    Bachelor’s Degree in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities of the position includes:
The Head Chef is responsible for ensuring that the standard and quality of the food production and the hygiene within the department is maintained at the highest level at all times. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude.
•    Plans menus for all food outlets in the Resort.
•    Quickly identifies and resolves any food service related guest complaints or requests.
•    Periodically visits dining area prior to opening and during service to review buffet and dining standards and interact with guests.
•    Schedules and coordinates the work of chefs, cooks and other kitchen employees to assure that food preparation is economical and technically correct and within budgeted labour cost goals.
•    Organises the requisition and ordering of products, equipment and other necessary food supplies.
•    Establishes controls to minimize food and supply waste and theft.
•    Safeguards all food preparation employees by implementing training to increase their knowledge about safety, sanitation and accident prevention principles.
•    Develops standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which help to assure consistently high quality and to minimize food costs; exercises portion control for all items served and assists in establishing menu costing.
•    Prepares necessary data for applicable parts of the budget; projects food, labor and other costs and monitors actual financial results; takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that financial goals are met.
•    Ensures proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality; controls food and payroll costs to achieve maximum profitability.
•    Interacts with management to assure that food production consistently exceeds the expectations of guests.
•    Provides training and professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff.

Applicants must possess:

•    Previous experience as a Host/Hostess
•    Understanding of restaurant etiquette
•    Reservation management experience
•    Must be in good physical condition to walk and stand for the duration of a shift
•    Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
•    Good written & verbal command of the english language
•    Willingness to work flexible schedules, weekends and public holidays
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of team
•    Proven experience in the Hospitality Industry.

•    Strong proficiency in the daily use of social media, web-based platforms and digital systems
•    Experience in sales and marketing, graphic design, and content creation.
•    Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
•    Administrative and organizational skills necessary for multi tasking in a fast paced environment
•    Good written & verbal command of the English Language
•    Willingness to work flexible schedules, weekends and public holidays
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
