Insane Carnival Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Major Contributions to Breast Cancer Awareness and Local Charities

In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Insane Carnival has taken a significant step to not only enhance the Carnival experience in Antigua and Barbuda but also to give back to the community in a meaningful way. This year, the Mas troupe chose the theme of "Fighting Against Breast Cancer" for its T-shirt mas, a cause that resonates deeply with many of its supporters.

Recognizing the impact of breast cancer on their community, Insane Carnival felt compelled to join the fight against the disease, marking this milestone year with purpose. In a testament to their commitment, Insane Carnival, along with the Insane Army and Dutty Mas, donated EC $20,000 to two local charities. The non-profit organization Breast Friends received a donation of EC $10,000, accepted by Michele Lynch, the organization’s Secretary.

Another EC $10,000 was donated to the St. John Hospice, with Administrator Cathy Gilkes accepting on behalf of the hospice. Furthermore, Insane Carnival announced its ongoing commitment to the St. John Hospice by adopting it as their official charity. Captain Lenroy Browne, speaking on behalf of the troupe, shared their vision for the future, emphasizing the importance of providing comfort to those who have contributed significantly to Antigua and Barbuda.

“Most of the patients there have contributed significantly to the development of Antigua and Barbuda, and we want them to be in very comfortable surroundings, albeit they are terminally ill. It’s a situation that is very dear to us, and we at Insane Carnival are committed to finding ways to make that environment better for the patients. Anything that we can do to make their final days more comfortable and peaceful will be our aim for the St. John Hospice,” Browne stated. Patrice Martin, Public Relations Manager for Insane Carnival, made the donations on behalf of the troupe, highlighting their dedication to supporting the community. This act of generosity is a hallmark of Insane Carnival’s decade-long journey, blending the vibrant spirit of Carnival with a profound commitment to social responsibility.
