SCHOOL SUPPLIES DONATED TO TRIO OF PRIMARY INSTITUTIONS
Tuesday 19th November 2013

Three primary schools were the recipients of stationary donated through a partnership between the Young Warriors Football Club and one of its sponsors, Fast Cash, a short-term money-lending company, on Thursday, 14 November 2013.

JT Ambrose in All Saints, CT Samuel in John Hughes and the Old Road primary schools received a quantity of pencils, erasers, sharpeners and rulers to assist them with their educational development.

Colin James, president of Young Warriors, says the presentation was part of his club’s vision which links education to scholastic achievement.

“What (we are doing) is making a contribution towards your continued educational development,” said James, “because if you don’t have the education to go with your ability to play sports you will not be able to get the scholarship that will enable you to go to a college or university…”

“It is important that we twin education with sports. It makes a good marriage. It makes a good partnership. It gives you the chance to excel in the classroom when you can do well on the sports field.”

Fast Cash representative, Reishard Elvin, the operations supervisor, expressed her company’s delight in making the donation while urging the students to use the school supplies efficiently.

“It’s an honour to be giving back to the community,” Elvin said. “We are not only here to grow businesswise but we would like to give back to individuals and help young students like yourself.”
Donald Joshua, the principal of C T Samuel, Nina Robinson, who heads the JT Ambrose, and Ryona Joseph, Old Road’s principal, thanked Young Warriors and Fast Cash for their invaluable contribution to the development of the students at their respective schools.

“We would like to express our appreciation for your thoughtfulness and generosity,” Joshua said.

“We are very delighted for your contribution,” Robinson said.

“Part of our vision statement for education is the fact that we work with stakeholders to ensure we have quality education here at JT Ambrose…this is a fitting example of partnering with other stakeholders. We are very thankful for the gifts you have presented. And I know we will definitely put them to good use,” she added.

“Realising our children are our best assets. That’s what we have now and we have to work to ensuring that they can be the best they can be.” Joseph said.

“Whatever you give we are going to take the best care of it. We will continue to work hard on the minds of our students so we can get them where we want them to be,” she added.

Young Warriors and Fast Cash also made a commitment to assist the schools in the future.
