Many islands aspire to attract marine and yachting events. Now, in 2026, Antigua stands out as having an exceptional offering that stands head and shoulders above other Caribbean destinations. This is made possible through the efforts of professional organizations and many critical volunteers.
The earliest event in the seasonal calendar is the Charter Yacht Exhibition in December 2025, which has seen a strong resurgence. Apparently, real, in-person viewing is far more powerful than online.
The Transatlantic Rowing Race has also seen a good turnout, with first finishers expected around January 14. The Nelson’s Cup RORC Event follows, with inshore racing scheduled to start on February 13, and is then followed by the Caribbean 600, a long-distance offshore racing event.
The Jolly Harbour Valentine’s Regatta, catering to more “modest” sailboats, runs from February 13 to 15, featuring inshore courses in protected waters.
The Superyacht Challenge begins on March 5, with a strong turnout of very “super” yachts forecast.
A new addition, the Antigua Racing Cup, starts on Wednesday, April 8, featuring a four-day inshore racing programme.
This is followed by the Antigua Classic Regatta, held from April 14 to 20. While also an inshore racing event, it places strong emphasis on classic yacht beauty and thecamaraderie associated with the fleet.
Antigua Sailing Week returns to the destination-style model of its early years, involving casual racing and time trials from April 22 to 26.
Beyond the major events, Antigua may be the only island in the Caribbean where keen sailors can race every Saturday afternoon throughout the season, and even during part of the off-season in Falmouth Harbour.
In dinghy sailing, Antigua is a dominant player in regional regattas, many of which take place in Falmouth Harbour.
Fishing tournaments are mainly held after the yachting season, with the national organization’s main tournament scheduled for May 20, based at Falmouth Harbour Marina. Whichever Antigua marina you are in, there is a Budget Marine close by, and visiting yachts compliant with customs criteria can avoid sales tax at Budget Marine.
Overall, Antigua’s marine events are well distributed throughout the season, maintaining sustained interest over a long period while ensuring economic manageability for stakeholders.
All in all, it’s a very pretty picture.
