ENGLISH HARBOUR POLICE STATION REOPENS Tuesday 25th August 2015
Following a temporary closure in order to completely upgrade what was described as almost uninhabitable facilities, the English Harbour Police Station re-opened last week. In attendance at the opening ceremony were a number of dignitaries including the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, the Prime Minister, the Honorable Gaston Browne, Chairman of National Parks Mr. Bernard Gardner, Commissioner of National Parks Ms. Ann-Marie Martin and the MP for the area the Honorable EP Chet Greene. The theme of the presentations was the huge commitment that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda is showing towards the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda by overhauling facilities island-wide and investing in infrastructure and training. Government officials have committed to a no nonsense attitude when it comes to any kind of criminal behavior in Antigua and Barbuda and looks forward to the English Harbour team being able to perform its duties from an almost brand new facility.
Aside from the contractors directly involved in the project, the Commissioner of National Parks also thanked several members of the private sector who assisted either with cash contributions or other resources including Carlo Falcone, Jeff Hadeed, Sir Hugh Bailey, Ted Martin, the English Harbour Charity, Paradise Yacht Finishers, Paul Deeth, and the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting.
