CSA SUPPORT FOR CARRIACOU, UNION ISLAND, OR PETITE MARTINIQUE Monday 22nd July 2024
Attention CSA Members, Associates, and the Caribbean Sailing Community:
On July 1, the eye of Hurricane Beryl struck Carriacou and Petite Martinique, causing unimaginable devastation. Carriacou, a 13-square-mile island with a population of 5,000, and Petite Martinique, a 0.92-square-mile island with a population of approximately 600, saw 80% of their housing and businesses destroyed. There is no running water, intermittent power, and downed mobile cell towers, leaving little to no communication.
Food is becoming scarce, and the lack of running water and overflowing septic tanks pose serious health risks.
The President of the Marine and Yachting Association of Grenada. Along with the rest of the board members of MAYAG are requesting your URGENT assistance to help the people on Carriacou and Petite Martinique through these critical days after the storm.
If you are sailing to Carriacou, Union Island, or Petite Martinique with supplies, please share your boat name, departure location, and loading time in the comments to facilitate donations.
For assistance upon arrival, contact CSA Board Member Brian Sylvester in Grenada at +1(473) 535-2583.
To send funds, the Marine & Yachting Association of Grenada has set up a GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/c53f6778.
