OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES BY ANTIGUA Thursday 27th May 2010
Here's some great news courtesy of Mr. Calvin Greenaway - the National Athletic Association and Ms. Heather Samuel - Coordinator - Athletics:
Over the past weekend, the Leewards Youth Championships were held in Anguilla. Antigua and Barbuda was represented by 14 athletes. 7 males and 7 females. The team managed to win a total of 20 medals, including 7 golds.
Outstanding performances were recorded by the following:
Under 13 girls, Kiwandi Morson, won 2 golds and 2 silvers and was the MVP in her age group.
Under 15 boy, Matthew Mitchell, won 2 golds and 1 bronze
Under 11 girl, Unique Ralford, won 1 gold, 1silver and 1 bronze
Under 13 boy, Orlando Thomas, won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze
In all, 10 athletes won medals, and although not fielding athletes in many events because of our small team, they managed to place 3rd out of 7 countries, a very commendable effort.
