ANTIGUA & BARBUDA OLYMPICS 2024 Monday 3rd June 2024
Antigua and Barbuda is gearing up for its twelfth appearance at the Summer Olympics, scheduled to take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The nation’s athletes are ready to showcase their talent on the global stage.
Leading the charge is Joella Lloyd, the top female sprinter from Antigua and Barbuda. Lloyd secured her spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics by running an impressive 11.06 seconds in the NCAA East Regionals Semi-finals held in Lexington. Notably, this performance not only qualified her for the Olympics but also set a new national record.
Joining Lloyd are two other outstanding athletes. Cejhae Greene, Antigua and Barbuda’s top senior men’s sprinter, is set to make his third Olympic Games appearance. Recently, he achieved the men’s 100 meters qualifying mark of a flat 10.00 seconds while competing at the PURE Athletics Sprint Elite Meet in Florida. Greene previously represented the country at the 2016 and 2020 Games in Rio and Tokyo, respectively. His silver medal-winning performance at the recent meet positions him as a strong contender for the Paris Olympics.
In the sailing category, Tiger Tyson secured his Olympic berth through the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile. Tyson will compete in the Men’s Formula Kite event. His journey to the Olympics reflects dedication and skill, and he aims to make Antigua and Barbuda proud.
As the Paris Olympics draw near, these three athletes are ready to give their all, aiming for podium finishes and celebrating their nation’s sporting legacy.
