UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB RECEIVES GENEROUS SPONSORSHIP Friday 9th November 2012
At an Official Handing Over Ceremony, November 7, 2012, the partnership between the Special Security Services Limited and the All Saints United Football Club was signed and sealed in the presence of a number of dignitaries and representatives from the Sports Club.
The event, which was held at the All Saints Road Headquarters of the Special Security Services Ltd. (SSS) included the handing over of a set of uniforms , boots and other equipment to the Captain of the Football Team, Mr. Quinton Griffith. Present were the Hon. Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Winston Baldwin Spencer, President of Antigua and Barbuda Football Association, Mr. Everton Gonsalves and Manager of Special Security Service Ltd., Mr. Wilbur Purcell.
Remarks were presented by Mr. George Purcell, SSS Company Director and Mr. Ivor Lewis, President of the All Saints United Football Club. The Minister of State with responsibility for Sports, Sen. Hon. Winston Williams commended the Management and Staff of the Special Security Services Ltd for their contribution not only to local business but to sports and community development in general. He also applauded the efforts of Colleague Minister, Sen. Hon. Joanne Massiah for successfully negotiating the sponsorship deal on behalf of the All Saints United Football Club and for arranging the ceremony. The feature address was presented by General Manager, Special Security Services, Mrs. Carla Purcell.
The All Saints United Football Club was founded in 1996 when two teams from the Community, the Westend Pressers and Attackers, unified to form the Club. Since then, the Club has performed creditably at the First Division Football level, topping the grouping in 2005-2006 and the Premier League where the Club earned the 2nd place position in 2011 - 2012. During the 2008 - 2012 period the main sponsor of the Club was the Honourable Chester Hughes.
Under the new sponsorship, the Club now referred to as the Special Security Services All Saints United, has its eyes set on taking home the championship in this year's national football season. The Club is well known for its motto 'When conviction runs deep, courage rises to sustain it'.
