Sport newspapers such as Lider and Meridiano keep covering the reactions to the acts               supporting the Law of Sports, Physical Activity and Physical Education, which took place               this Tuesday outside the National Assembly. The activities received wide coverage by both         the National System of Public Media and the private press. The right of athletes to vote and         social security are the most highlighted topics on this regard.
As part of the politics to support athletes, Jose Rujano met this Wednesday Hector                       Rodriguez Castro, Minister of the People’s Power for Sport, to present him his proposals             regarding the creation and sponsorship of a Venezuelan cycling team of international level.  
In the same line, NBA player Venezuelan Greivis Vasquez met Minister Hector Rodriguez,             in order to design joint projects on social works in sports.
The women’s U20 national volleyball team will make its debut this Thursday at 2:00 p.m. –         local time – against Mexico.
The Venezuela Basketball Federation released the names of the players who will                           represent us in the pre-Olympic tournament of Mar del Plata.
Table Tennis player Daniel Fuenmayor became champion of the XII International League             of Margarita.  
350 athletes from 15 states are participating in the National Kickingball Championship of           Guanare.

LAW OF SPORTS
 
Through their Twitter accounts, several Venezuelan car racing drivers expressed their support to the project reforming the Law of Sports. Among them are Angel Benitez, Jhony Cecotto Jr. And Ernesto Jose Viso. (Globovision)
 
For his part, Hildegar Morillo, president of the High-level Athletes National Commission, said that “In this document we (athletes) express our unconditional support to this law which, when approved, will safeguard our rights and interests” (El Universal)           
 
A delegation of the Sports Glories Foundation was also present in this act. “We support this law, the democratization of sport and ask deputies to acknowledge the sport glories”, stated Jesus Duque, president of the foundation. (Lider) 
 
As a conflicting note, in the general assembly held yesterday, Eduardo Alvarez, president of the Venezuela Olympic Committee, explained that “This cannot be an electioneering campaign. We have to make a difference between voice and vote”. These were Alvarez’s words, who placed stress on the apolitical nature the debate must have. (Lider)      
 
SOCIAL RUNNING  
After meeting Hector Rodriguez, Minister of the People’s Power for Sports, athlete Greivis Vasquez stated: “It was a very fruitful meeting. The Minister and I want to start an institutional campaign using my image, for my priority is helping my country”, said the basketball player, who added he wants to give Venezuela’s youth the same opportunity he was given. “I have several projects aimed at helping young people. I want to let them know I am not just a professional athlete, I am also a human being who wants to contribute to the benefit of the country, as a way to return the support I have been given”. CYCLING
Venezuelan cyclist Jose Rujano met this Wednesday Hector Rodriguez Castro, Minister of the People’s Power for Sports, in order to present him a Project to assemble a Venezuelan professional cycling team. 
“We talked a lot and I think the minister is convinced of the importance of the project”, said            Rujano. 
The cyclist explained that the team would be made up of eight cyclists. “We already talked            to Manuel Medina, Tomas Gil, Freddy Vargas and Edwin Becerra, who are glad with the                idea”.
“We need the sponsorship of the Venezuelan State for about three or five years, in order to            promote national cycling”.
“I think it is time to make a professional cycling team, supported by PDVSA, CANTV and                MOVILNET. It is really the time to have this team for a Giro, a Tour or a Tour of Spain”.                   (AVN)
 
Venezuelans Freddy Vargas, Jose Chacon and Miguel Ubeto are doing great in the French Indies, after the celebration of the Tour du Pays de la Canne, where Ubeto obtained the title, Chacon got the victory in one stage and Vargas won in the Conseil. (Ciclismo Total)
 
Miranda’s athlete Roger Curvelo, stayed calmed and waited for the best moment to show his potential in the first Challenge of Turgua, held last Sunday in Santa Lucia, Miranda state, where Andreina Peñaloza won in the women’s category.  
 
CAR RACING
Driver Pastor Maldonado will try to get his first points in his debut season in, at the European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain, next Sunday June 26th. This is a race of speed, and represents the VIII date to add points in the Formula 1 World Championship of this year. German Sebastian Vettel stands as the leader with 161 points, escorted by Jensson Button with 101.  (AVN)
Pan American Easykart champion, Sebastian Fernandez, comes back to Venezuela to participate in the National Easykart Championship, which VI leg will be raced this weekend at the karting track “Carmencita Hernandez”, in Maracay. Fernandez is second in the general table with 89 points; the leader, Jeremy Romero, adds 100 points. Fernandez will debut as official driver to RK, owned by Robert Kubica, F1 driver. (AVN)
 
MOTOCROSS
Riders Anthony Rodriguez and Fernando Jose Macia guaranteed their participation at the American amateur final, known as Loretta Lynn National; they got their place in the regional eliminatory rounds last week in New York and Florida, respectively. 
 
VOLLEYBALL
U-20 national team will debut this Thursday at 2:00pm before Mexico at the I Pan American volleyball Cup, which takes place from June 16th to 20th, in Lima, Peru. Venezuela belongs to group A in this competition, along with Mexico, El Salvador and Peru. (AVN)
 
ROLLER BLADE
Roller Blading from Zulia state shone at the 2nd leg of the national competition of the discipline, and several names sound to be part of the team to represent the state in the National Games 2011. Rollerbladers from Zulia achieved eleven gold, eight silver and six bronze medals, for a third place, after Barinas and Guarico. (Noticias al Dia)
 
GYMNASTICS
Content with the five medals she won last week in the United States, Andreina Acevedo said she will continue to work to be noticeable in the Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011, next October in Mexico. With 93.800 points, she obtained the silver medal in All-round, and put around her neck four bronze ones, in each one of the events of the competition, before representatives from Canada, Colombia, Chile, Moldavia, Guatemala, Chile and the United States. BASKETBALL
Carmelo Cortez, president of the Venezuela Basketball Federation, disclosed the 18 players from the pre-selection to play in the Pre-Olympic Games Mar del Plata, in Argentina, From August 30th to September 10th. The list is led by Greivis Vasquez, and continues with Heissler Guillent, David Cubillan, Rafael Perez, Gregory Echenique, Luis Bethelmy, Miguel Marriaga, Jose Bravo, Oscar Torres, Hector Romero, Francisco Centeno, Michael Flores, Windy Graterol, Robert Yriarte, Dwight Lewis, Nestor Colmenares, Jhon Romero and Luis Valera. 22 athletes will represent Venezuela in the American Children (age 12-14), Pre-junior (14-16), Junior (16-18) and Young Riders (19-21) Championship, to be held at the sand court of the Guayaquil Country Club, in Ecuador, from July 27th to 31st. (AVN)
 
 
 
TAEK WON DO
Captain of the national team, Carlos Vasquez, is now a key piece in the team that will seek at least four Olympic places at the World Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan, from June 30th to July 3rd. (AVN)

Se mantiene en los medios deportivos como Líder y Meridiano, las reacciones a las                     actividades de apoyo a la Ley del Deporte, Actividad Física y Educación Física, que se                 realizaron este martes a las afueras de la sede la Asamblea Nacional, tuvieron importante         repercusión tanto en medios del SNMP, como privados. Siguen destacando los temas de         la incorporación del derecho al voto y la seguridad social de los atletas.
Como parte de la política de apoyo a los atletas, José Rujano se reunió este miércoles               con el Ministro del Poder Popular para el Deporte, Héctor Rodríguez Castro, para realizar           sus propuestas en relación al patrocinio y conformación de un equipo ciclístico de talla               internacional.
En este mismo orden el basquetbolista venezolano de la NBA, Greivis Vásquez se reunió           con el Ministro Héctor Rodríguez para trazar proyectos conjuntos de trabajos sociales en             el sector deportivo.
La selección venezolana de voleibol Sub 20 femenino hará su debut este jueves a las                 2:00 de la tarde hora local ante su similar de México.
La Federación Venezolana de Baloncesto dio a conocer los nombres del seleccionado               que nos representara en el preolímpico de Mar de Plata.
Tenimesista Daniel Fuenmayor campeón en XII Liga Internacional de Margarita.

LEY DEL DEPORTE
 
A través de sus cuentas en Twitter, varios pilotos de carrera del país expresaron su respaldo al proyecto de reforma de Ley del Deporte. Entre los pilotos que apoyan el proyecto están Ángel Benítez, Jhony Cecotto hijo y Ernesto José Viso.(Globovosión)
 
Por su parte Hildegar Morillo, presidente de la Comisión Nacional de Atletas de Alto Rendimiento, manifestó que "En este documento se manifiesta el apoyo irrestricto que nosotros - los atletas- tenemos a esta Ley, que una vez aprobada velará por nuestros derechos e intereses" (El Universal)
 
La Fundación Glorias del Deporte también estuvo presente en este acto. “Apoyamos la ley, la democratización del deporte y pedimos a los diputados que reivindiquen a las glorias del deporte”, declaró Jesús Duque, presidente de la Fundación. (Líder)
 
Como nota discordante, en asamblea general celebrada ayer, el presidente del Comité Olímpico, Eduardo Álvarez, explicó que “este no debe ser un proceso electorero, hay que diferenciar entre la voz y el voto”, fueron las palabras del dirigente, que hizo énfasis en el carácter apolítico que debe tener el debate (Líder)
 
GESTIÓN SOCIAL 
 
Luego de una reunión sostenida hoy, entre el ministro Hector Rodriguez y el atleta Greivis Vasquez este último aseveró:  “Fue una reunión muy  productiva, el ministro y yo queremos plantear una ayuda social, institucional, usando mi imagen, ya que mi prioridad es ayudar al país”, dijo el basquetero quien agregó que su intención es darle  a los jóvenes venezolanos la misma oportunidad que él tuvo. “Tengo varios proyectos con la finalidad de ayudar a la juventud venezolana, y dar a entender que yo no sólo soy un atleta profesional, sino un ser humano que quiere colaborar, y quiere mejorar al país, como una manera de retribuir el apoyo que me han brindado. CICLISMO
 
El ciclista venezolano José Rujano se reunió este miércoles con el Ministro del Poder Popular para el Deporte, Héctor Rodríguez Castro, para presentarle un proyecto de crear un equipo venezolano profesional de ciclismo. 
“Hablamos largamente y creo que el ministro está convencido de lo importante del plan”,            dijo Rujano. 
Comentó que dicho equipo estaría compuesto por ocho pedalistas, “ya conversamos con         Manuel Medina, Tomás Gil, Freddy Vargas y Edwin Becerra, quienes están animados con            la idea”, afirmó.
“Necesitamos el patrocinio del Estado venezolano por un lapso de tres y cinco años, con            el objetivo de impulsar el ciclismo nacional”.
“Creo que es el momento para que se de un equipo profesional de ciclismo, que tenga                como apoyo a PDVSA, CANTV y Movilnet. Realmente es la oportunidad para enfilar al                  equipo para un giro, un tour, o una Vuelta a España”. (AVN)
 
Por su parte los criollos Freddy Vargas, José Chacón y Miguel Ubeto están haciendo de las suyas en las Antillas francesas, luego de celebrado el Tour du Peys de la Canne, donde Ubeto se trajo el titulo, Chacón triunfo en una etapa y Vargas ganara en el Conseil. (Ciclismo Total)

AUTOMOVILISMO
El piloto venezolano Pastor Maldonado intentará en el trazado de Valencia, España, el domingo 26 de junio, sumar los primeros puntos durante la temporada 2011, la que marcó su debut en la Fórmula Uno. El Gran Premio de Europa es una carrera de automovilismo de velocidad, VIII cita puntuable en el Campeonato Mundial de Fórmula 1 en el presente año; que presenta al piloto alemán Sebastián Vettel como monarca absoluto con 161 puntos, seguido por el inglés Jesson Button con 101 unidades. Por su parte, el campeón Panamericano de Easykart, Sebastián Fernández regresa a Venezuela para cumplir el compromiso en el campeonato nacional de Easykart, cuya VI válida se correrá este fin de semana en el kartódromo “Carmencita Hernández” de Maracay. Fernández se ubica en el segundo puesto en la tabla de posiciones con 89 puntos superado por Jeremy Romero quien acumula 100 unidades. Fernández viene de debutar como piloto oficial de la escudería RK cuyo dueño es el polaco Robert Kubica, conductor de Fórmula Uno. (AVN)

Los motocrossistas venezolanos Anthony Rodríguez y Fernando José Macía garantizaron su participación en la gran final del motocross amateur norteamericano, conocido como Loretta Lynn National, al asegurar un cupo en las eliminatorias regionales disputadas el pasado fin de semana en Nueva York y Florida, respectivamente.
 
VOLEIBOL
La selección venezolana Sub 20 de voleibol femenino hará su debut este jueves a las 2:00 de la tarde hora local ante su similar de México en la I Copa Panamericana de Voleibol que se efectuará del 16 al 20 de los corrientes en Lima, Perú. En esta cita continental las criollas comparten la llave A de la fase de grupo, junto al elenco azteca, con las representaciones de El Salvador y Perú. (AVN)

GIMNASIA
Satisfecha con las cinco medallas obtenidas el pasado fin de semana en Estados Unidos, la gimnasta venezolana Andreína Acevedo asevera que continuará el trabajo para destacar en los Juegos Panamericanos de Guadalajara, que se disputarán en octubre próximo en México. Con un acumulado de 93.800 puntos, Acevedo conquistó medalla de plata en la prueba del allaround, y se colgó cuatro de bronce, en cada uno de los aparatos en competencia, ante representantes de Canadá, Colombia, Chile, Moldavia, Guatemala, Chile y Estados Unidos. Carmelo Cortez, presidente de la FVB, dio a conocer la preselección de los 18 integrantes del equipo vinotinto encabezado por el destacado jugador Greivis Vásquez.
