INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN UP DAY GROUPS
Monday 15th September 2014

In conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy’s Annual International Coastal Clean-Up Day on Saturday September 20th, the AHTA is coordinating the clean up of local beaches by hotels, civic organisations, businesses and conservation groups. To date, several companies and volunteers have responded, although more are needed.

A.S.Brydens has teamed up with AMSA students from the A.U.A College of Medicine along with BeachLimerz to clean up Ft. James Beach on Saturday afternoon. Sugar Ridge Hotel is sending a team of volunteers to Morris Bay to gather up all the trash they can find. The Sandals Foundation has committed a team to work on Ffryes Beach.

In addition, Karib Cable/FLOW and the EAG will be taking care of Runaway Beach, Rogers Media and friends will tend to Little Ffryes, and the Rotaract Club will clean up Valley Church. Owen George, founder of the Go Green Antigua Party, will be working on Darkwood Beach.

In the English Harbour area Ruby Yacht Refit has put together a team to clean Galleon Beach, Freeman Beach and Pigeon Point

It's not too late to get involved, there are still more beaches that need a little bit of TLC. If you would like to join the effort contact Anthea in the AHTA and we can assign a beach to you. And rest assured Antigua's visiting tourists as well as the marine life around the island will be very thankful you made the effort!
