ABHTA PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SERIES 2025 KICKS OFF WITH RESOUNDING SUCCESS
Monday 17th March 2025

Antigua & Barbuda – March 17, 2025 – The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) proudly launched its 2025 Professional Learning Series with an exceptional start, featuring the highly anticipated Purchasing & Cost Control Management Certification Course. Held on March 5th and 6th at the Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute, this course empowered participants with essential skills in managing purchasing activities and cost control measures to help businesses achieve financial and operational objectives.

The course was expertly facilitated by Ms. Shabera Treasure-Jacobs, a seasoned Hospitality Cost Control Professional, who led the two day session, offering an engaging learning experience through case studies, hands-on exercises, interactive discussions, and learning games, all designed to ensure the practical application of key financial management principles.

Reflecting on the experience, Mrs. Jacobs shared, “Facilitating this training reinforced the critical relevance of cost control in the hospitality industry and the need to emphasize how cost control procedures and requirements directly impact financial statements. Participants engaged deeply with the material, recognizing that effective cost management is not just about tracking expenses but about making informed financial decisions that shape the profitability and sustainability of their businesses. The enthusiasm and positive feedback from participants further highlight the demand for continued professional development in this area. I commend the ABHTA on its consistent commitment to equipping hospitality professionals through certification courses like this.”

One of the participants, Sally Ibrahim, Purchasing Manager of Automotive Art (Antigua) shared her experience, stating, “The course content was highly relevant and provided valuable insights into effective purchasing strategies and cost control measures. The real-world examples and case studies were particularly beneficial in understanding the practical applications of the concepts taught. The interactive sessions and group discussions were engaging and fostered a collaborative learning environment. I appreciated the opportunity to network with fellow professionals and exchange ideas and best practices. I also want to commend the instructor for her expertise and dedication. Her ability to explain complex topics in an accessible manner and her willingness to address our questions and concerns made the learning experience enjoyable and enriching.

Overall, the course has significantly enhanced my understanding of purchasing and cost control management, and I feel more confident in applying these principles in my professional role. I would highly recommend this certification course to anyone looking to advance their skills in this field.”

Anthea Watkins, Operations Manager and Training Manager at ABHTA, also praised the success of the course, emphasizing the Association’s commitment to professional development: “As a professional development and training solutions provider, we proudly offer comprehensive training programs such as our Purchasing and Cost Control Management.
