ABHTI ATTENDS HUMAN RESOURCES CONFERENCE Friday 3rd November 2023
The Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) attended the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) 10th Tourism Human Resources Conference from October 30 to November 1st, held in Nevis.
The conference was held under the theme “Navigating the Next Phase of Caribbean Tourism - Talent & Technology 2024 & Beyond.” ABHTI Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Acting Executive Director Raynel Carroll, both represented the institute.
The conference brought tourism, hospitality, and technology professionals together to create an insight into the future. As ABHTI continues to positions itself to be the premier hospitality institute of the OECS, the 3-day conference provided a roadmap to the future of hospitality and tourism. Talks were also held with various stakeholders in Nevis for an exchange program between the colleges in St. Kitts and Nevis and ABHTI.
Shirlene Nibbs, Chairperson of the board, said “having worked for and with the CTO in the past, it was a great opportunity to network and gain insight of the developing trends, especially with the leveraging of technology and its implications for human capital in the workplace. The master classes were very beneficial and the insights gained will serve the institute well and further the hospitality and tourism industry.”
One of the key takeaways from the conference for ABHTI was the importance of developing a workforce that is skilled in both hospitality and technology. In order to meet the needs of the future of the industry, ABHTI is committed to providing the training and skills required to succeed in this increasingly competitive field.
Other industry stakeholders and colleagues from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and Curtain Bluff Resort were also in attendance.
