The Industrial Workshop for the Blind
Organized in 1952, it was originally called the School for the Blind. It is now a not-for-profit workshop that is run by the Antigua & Barbuda Society of and for the Blind.
This workshop located on Lower Saints Road is a thriving business for visually impaired and blind persons. The employees produce a variety of items including mops, basketry, rag mats, bar stool weaving and caning for the seats of chairs.
The Workshop has lost many of Corporate Sponsors with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and has been unable to:
- Provide its planned three meals a-week programme for persons who are blind or visually impaired
- Upgrade the workspace to safely accommodate all sixteen (16) employees who are blind or visually impaired
- Repair a leaking roof in the building
Your support of this event will make an impact on the lives of persons who directly benefit from the operations of the Industrial Workshop of and for the blind.
