The ABHTA postponed Scholarship Awards in 2020 and are delighted to have a return of this valuable offer to aspiring hospitality professionals across the twin island state.  Persons applying for the scholarship must be pursuing an Associate Degree in Resort Management, Tourism Management, or Hospitality Management.

The following are required for all applicants:

  • Submit 1,000-word essay, “What Tourism Means to Me”
  • 2 passport sized photos
  • Profile Bio or Resume
  • Proof of Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship
  • 5 CXC certification subjects (with passes in English and Mathematics)

Vernon A. Jeffers Snr, Executive Chairman of the ABHTA in addressing the return of the scholarship awards in 2021 remarked that “Our industry is facing its toughest time yet, however it is the resilience and strength of our people that continues to take us through these unprecedented times.  Investing in a pool of individuals who are trained and ready to deliver exceptional service, even in challenging times, is the reason why we continue to support our students’ study at the ABHTI.  I encourage all aspiring hospitality professionals, regardless of your age and the stage that you are currently at in your career, to apply for this opportunity and advance your career in this most dynamic sector”.

Funding of the scholarship awards is made possible through the Tourism Development Fund/TDF and the properties that contribute to the fund - Blue Waters Resort & Spa, Galley Bay Resort & Spa, Curtain Bluff, Jumby Bay Island and Hermitage Bay.

Deadline for application is August 20, 2021.  Individuals requiring more information may contact Anthea Watkins at anthea@antiguahotels.org or call 462-0374/4928.
