Wednesday November 20, 2019, St. John’s Antigua and Barbuda: The Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) announced that all profits from its inaugural Taste of Wadadli event will directly benefit individuals wishing to enroll at the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI).
Vernon A. Jeffers, Sr, Chairman for the ABHTA stated that “We were initially approached by the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union to have an event to celebrate all of employees within the hospitality sector, as well as having a direct beneficiary in the name of the ABHTI. That initial call to action has blossomed into an event to celebrate our student Chefs, Resort Chefs, Artisans and local artist.” Mr. Jeffers further remarked that “We are delighted to be part of celebrating Tourism Week with our counterparts at the Ministry of Tourism and we are looking forward to an exciting week of activities”.
Mrs. Ruthlyn Matthias, the Executive Director of the ABHTI is pleased at the initiative, commenting that “We are thrilled at the opportunity to have more students enrol at the Institute. Our programs vary from Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management to Resort Management and even Food & Beverage Operations. We have a team of lecturers dedicated to our students’ excellence and we will be more than delighted to welcome more persons passionate about making their impact on the industry. Our culinary students will also be on showcase at Taste of Wadadli. So please, come on out in your numbers, in support of the ABHTI.”
Taste of Wadadli is now listed on the calendar of events for Tourism Week 2019 and is slated for Monday December 9, 2019 and will be hosted on lower St. Mary’s Street (between Thames and Market Streets).
