PLANS FOR PIANGOFEST CONTINUE TO TAKE SHAPE Monday 22nd July 2019
19th July 2019 - Interests continue to build for this year’s PineappleMangoFest (PiAngoFest) which will be hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs at Cades Bay Agricultural Station on August 17th and 18th.
Vendors wishing to take in the event have until July26th to register at the Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters on Queen Elizabeth Highway.
Members of the Planning committee have been engaged in a Media Blitz throughout the week and Chairperson Marcelle Freeland said that heighten interest is being shown in the event from the general public and more vendors are securing their spots through growing registration which is now in progress.
She is appealing to persons to make an effort to participate and attend this major event as it holds multiple benefits for both patrons and vendors.
Apart from learning about the wide varieties of mangoes and types of pineapple available, the public will also get the opportunity to see the vast amount of products that can be made from both fruits, to include confectionaries, sauces and even cosmetic products.
The two-day family affair will include an agro-processors competition, domino competition, local performances, live entertainment and kids` attractions. The Mechanical Flying Chair and Face Painting will also be among the popular attractions at the PiAngoFest.
Patrons can either choose to use the ‘park and ride’ system which will be place at a minimal cost of five dollars or enter the venue otherwise at a cost of two dollars. Parking will be available at the Old Road and Urlings Playing fields where shuttle services will be available.
A ‘PiAngoFest’ Selfie competition is now in progress and persons can take a Selfie eating pineapples or mangoes and send them to debbie.francis@ab.gov.ag or Jason.fleming@ab.gov.ag.
