PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

The Christmas celebrations begin in Antigua as early as November. The capital city of St. John's is especially adorned in colorful festive lights, and so are many of the island homes.

Along with this, many of the local houses are decked in red, white and green paper chains embellishing the doorways.

Throughout the Christmas celebration days, carolers and local street musicians offer entertainment. On Christmas Eve many of the stores stay open until 11:00 pm. A lot of people are usually seen on Market street doing last minute Christmas shopping.
