June Field Trip: GREAT BIRD + GUIANA ISLAND

It’s cruising time again! To celebrate World Environment Day and World Ocean Day, the EAG’s June field trip, in collaboration with “Paddles” (www.antiguapaddles.com), will motor along Antigua’s north-east coast to Great Bird Island. Bring your suit in case you wish to snorkel or swim. Or, you may choose to take a walk around this ~9 hectare island. However, be sure to bring long pants and closed shoes, maybe even a long shirt too because, on our way home from Great Bird, we’ll stop by Guiana Island which is showing the effects of our many recent showers. We will walk along as much of this island as possible to witness the difference in wild life on this rat-infested island compared to that on rat-free Great Bird Island.

For this half-day trip on Saturday 15th June, 2013, meet at the home of “Paddles” in Seaton’s Village (follow the signs for “Paddles” from the main road; map will be posted in the coming days) by 8:30am for departure at 9am. Don’t forget your water, a hat and sunscreen.

The cost of this trip is EC$40 for EAG members and EC$50 for non-members, to be paid at the EAG office by Thursday 13th June at 12pm. Space is limited so book early.

We look forward to seeing you on this exciting offshore island adventure.
