"GO WILD! GO BIRDING!" THE EAG REACHES OUT FOR HELP WITH CARIBBEAN ENDEMIC BIRD FESTIVAL Tuesday 10th May 2011
The EAG, in collaboration with the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB) and the Antigua & Barbuda Ministry of Education, is currently hosting a Caribbean Endemic Bird Festival (CEBF) to raise awareness and appreciation of our resident and migratory birds. The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Go Wild! Go Birding!’, which is being celebrated throughout the Caribbean from 22 April to 22 May. Here in Antigua and Barbuda, Grade 5 classes from around the islands are taking part in activities such as poster-making, bird-watching, essay writing, and community tree-plantings. The culmination of these events will be a½ day event on 19 May in the upstairs gallery of the Museum where all participating students will be invited to come together to showcase their work and take part in more exciting bird-related activities!
We Need Your Help!!!
- Binoculars and Spotting Scopes: From the 16th-18th of May, approximately 120 Students will be participating in a bird watching activity at McKinnons Swamp. We greatly appreciate any binoculars or scopes that you can lend us for this activity. Please label your equipment and we will return them promptly after the 18th.
