JHYC ANNUAL REGATTA

Saturday 22nd November 2025.

The Regatta Headquarters will be located at the JHYC office in the Jolly Harbour Commercial Centre.
RULES
1. RULES
1.1 The regatta is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (2025–2028).
1.2 Addendum A – Safety and Equipment Regulations will apply.
1.3 The CSA Rating Rule will apply to all boats.
1.4 The rules will be changed as follows:
(a) Rule A2, Series Scores, will apply except that a boat’s worst race score will only be excluded from her series score if six or more races have been completed.
(b) Rule 44.1, Taking a Penalty, is changed so that for all classes the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
(c) Rule 52, Manual Power, will not apply.
(d) Rule 77, Identification on Sails, will not apply.

The Sailing Instructions may also change other rules.

2. ADVERTISING
All boats competing may be required to display advertising chosen and provided by the Organising Authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta will be held for boats in the CSA Monohull class, which may be subdivided.
3.2 Boats are encouraged to enter online at: www.jhycantigua.com/sailing

  • Payment to be made at briefing.

3.3 Entries will be accepted up to 18:00 on Friday, 21st November 2025.

  • Late entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of the OA.
  • If accepted, a 20% late entry penalty may be levied on top of the entry fee.

3.4 The OA may amalgamate, cancel, divide, sub-divide, or rearrange classes at its sole discretion.
3.5 All entries shall declare their sail configuration at Registration but in any event, no later than 18:00 on Friday, 21st November.
3.6 When a rating system offers multiple sail configurations or other alternative ratings, the entrant shall declare the choice to the technical committee no later than 18:00 on Friday, 21st November.

4. FEES

4.1 The entry fee is EC$300 for boats registered prior to 18:00 on 21st November.

4.2 Entry fees shall be paid no later than 18:00 on Friday, 21st November.

  • All fees shall be paid by cash or cheque only.
  • Returned cheques will be subject to a fee of US$100 plus any levied bank charges.

4.3 Each boat shall provide a refundable CASH fee of EC$50 at registration as deposit for a class flag.

  • Fee will be returned to boats at Prize Giving when the flag is returned to the OA.

5. REGISTRATION

5.1 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form online at: www.jhycantigua.com/sailing

5.2 Registration is mandatory for all entrants and will take place at the Regatta Headquarters on Friday, 21st November from 17:00 to 18:00.

5.3 Each boat shall provide a list of names and contact information for each member of the crew at Registration.

5.4 Each boat shall provide its sail number at Registration.

5.5 A skipper or support person for each boat shall sign a waiver at Registration.

6. IDENTIFICATION

The returnable class flag shall be flown from the backstay throughout the regatta.

7. SCHEDULE

7.1 Mandatory Skippers’ Briefing: 18:00 on Friday, 21st November at Regatta Headquarters.

7.2 Racing will take place on Saturday, 22nd November and Sunday, 23rd November.

7.3 Seven races are scheduled (including a coastal race), with no more than four per day.

7.4 The warning signal for the first race each day will not be before 10:00.

7.5 On the last scheduled day of racing, no warning signal will be made after 14:30.

7.6 Prize-giving will take place not before 17:00 on Sunday, 23rd November at Jolly Harbour Commercial Centre Square.

8. MEASUREMENT AND RATINGS

8.1 All entries should have a current digitally-certified CSA rating certificate.

8.2 Boats requiring CSA measurement in Antigua should contact a CSA Official Measurer no later than noon on Monday, 10th February.

8.3 Boats without a CSA rating may be accommodated and issued a rating at the sole discretion of the OA.

9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

10. COURSES

All courses will be located off the west coast of Antigua in the vicinity of Jolly Harbour between St. John’s Harbour and Cades Reef.

  • Courses will be around laid marks and/or fixed navigation marks in a minimum of 5 metres.
  • Courses for smaller vessels may be set in waters under 5 metres.

11. HAUL OUT RESTRICTIONS

Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with prior written permission from the Race Committee.

12. BERTHING

  • Jolly Harbour Marina is offering 2 nights free berthing for participating yachts (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night—whichever two nights are chosen).
  • Utilities will be billed to the boat at normal rates.
  • Advance notice is required. Requests made after Wednesday, 19th November may not be accommodated.

13. INSURANCE

All boats shall have a minimum of adequate Third-Party Liability Insurance which covers racing, valid for the duration of the Regatta.

14. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

RRS 3 states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.”

By participating in this event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These include strong winds, rough seas, sudden weather changes, equipment failure, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance, and fatigue.

Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent or catastrophic injury, or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia, or other causes.

The OA and its affiliates will not accept liability for material damage, personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

15. PHOTOGRAPHIC AND MEDIA RIGHTS

Competitors grant the organising authority the unrestricted right and permission to use their name and/or image, as well as photographs or video footage of themselves or their boats during the event, to be published or broadcast in any media (press, TV, internet, editorial, or advertising).
