NELSON’S PURSUIT WON BY ULYSSA Friday 8th January 2016
The annual Nelson’s Pursuit Race provided a fun day of racing in interesting New Year’s Eve conditions for the 19 boat fleet. Carri 34 Sweetheart, Captained by owner Charles Morgan was again the French Boat.
The winning boat was Ulyssa, a British Boat with a Russian Crew on Board. The race class as won by Richard Archer on a 1720, Racer Cruiser the Reads who charter a boat every year for the event, on board Swan 60 Fenix, and Classic by Frolic with Hans Lammers as skipper and finally best elaspsed time was won by Paul Deeth in Marama.
The organizers would like to thank Falmouth Harbour Marina for being the main sponsor and contributing EC$5,000 to the event, along with Premier Beverages for Cavailer Rum, Carib Bean Coffee, Turtles Surf Shop and Antigua Sailing Week who all provided excellent prizes.
A big thank you also goes to Chippy Woodword for all the rum punch, and George Clarke and Hugh Bailey Jr. for laying the marks with Archie Baileys boat.
All proceeds raised go to St. John Hospice. The organizer would also like to congratulate Agnes Meeker, founder of the hospice for being honoured by the Queen with an M.B.E.
