They’re back! The North American Optimist Championships will be sailing off this week. Bringing plenty of enthusiasm and  sun screen, over 150 intrepid youngsters will compete in our Atlantic waters in the single-class Optimists. Businesses in English Harbour will be open to welcome them. Don’t miss the parade on Monday, dancing and music all the way to Nelson’s Dockyard. 

Make the most  of all the  summer specials in the harbour and around the island as things warm up. Indulge your love of seafood at Copper and Lumber Friday nights in the Dockyard and lobster is back on the menu on 1st July. One of the weekend’s most exciting events is the literary fest at Best of Books on Sunday with readings and cultural activities and the  launch of Joanne Hillhouse’s new book,  To be a Cheetah.
