RENAISSANCERE 2014 JUNIOR GOLD CUP Thursday 30th October 2014
Antigua's Rocco Falcone was invited to participate in the RenaissanceRe 2014 Junior Gold Cup Regatta in Bermuda over the weekend of October 23-26 and was very fortunate to be able to participate. The event was sailed solely in Optimist dinghies with skippers from around the world who had been invited to participate.
This year the Regatta featured 40 sailors from 14 different countries. Rocco Falcone got off to a great start with a 1st place finish in the first race. Unfortunately, he got a Black Flag in the second race which meant he had to sail less aggressively from that point forward because only one of the series of races could be discarded so he couldn't risk another disqualification.

Rocco finished the second day of racing in third place overall with the same number of points as the sailor in second place and four points ahead of the sailor from Brazil.
On the third day of racing the winds were very light and only two races were held with Brazil finishing the day one point ahead or Rocco.

Rocco's finishing positions were very consistent over the first three days of racing but he had his worst results on the last day of racing with a 13th place finish in the last race. That left Rocco just off the podium with an incredible 4th place finish overall.
What an exceptional result for Antigua's Rocco Falcone who was fortunate to participate in an International Regatta with some of the best Optimist sailors in the world. Congratulations to Rocco - great sailing!
