ANTIGUAN YOUTH PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL OPTIMIST REGATTA Tuesday 2nd July 2013
Two young Antiguan sailors participated in the 21st International Optimist Regatta held in St. Thomas from the 17th to 23rd of June.
There were 85 optimist sailors from the United States, Mexico, Uruguay, and the Caribbean Islands. Winds were 16 to 18 knots with big waves and 45 to 60 minute courses. The windward mark was so far up that you could hardly see it. There were four races a day with lots of good sailors.
Louis Bavay finished 35th overall and 12th in Blue fleet while Rocco Falcone placed 22nd overall and 9th in Blue fleet.
The boys worked really hard and should be very proud of their accomplishments. They're now preparing for the World Championships to be held in the near future.
Great regatta - well done boys!
