RIVIERE SALEE ACCESS TO POINT-A-PITRE GUADELOUPE CLOSED
Tuesday 18th June 2013

The Authorities of the Guadeloupe Islands have informed us that boaters can no longer use the shortcut through the Riviere Salee as the bridges will remain closed effective immediately and for period of approximately one year or more.

The bridges need major maintenance and because there have been some technical defaults resulting in the bridges occasionally not opening and blocking users on either side of the bridge, the decision has been made to leave the bridges closed until the maintenance is complete.

The Marina Bas-du-Fort manager apologizes for this major inconvenience caused to the visitors who wish to visit Marina Bas-du-Fort in Pointe-a-Pitre from either the north or the south. They now will have to go around the island either on the leeward side (Deshaies, Pigeon island, Basse-Terre) or via Saint Francois, Pointe  des Chateaux to the east.

The Marina has promised a special welcome gift to all boats that go to the extra effort to come their way.
