ESEACLEAR ISSUES PRESS RELEASE IN RESPONSE TO NOONSITE ARTICLE Tuesday 28th August 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
eSeaClear® Operational in Antigua & Barbuda to Improve Clearance Across All Border Departments, Not Only Customs
St. John’s, Antigua & Barbuda, August 10, 2012 – “The reports of the death of eSeaClear® have been greatly exaggerated” says Bob Potter, CEO of eSeaClear Inc., in response to an August 9, 2012 article on Noonsite.com.
“eSeaClear is fully operational in Antigua and Barbuda across all departments involved in clearing vessels, that is, Customs, Immigration, and Port Authority,” he continued. “Yacht masters clearing in and out of English Harbour and Jolly Harbour are encouraged to use eSeaClear to make their clearance experience faster and easier.
“In response to increasing feedback received by eSeaClear from the yachting community complaining that eSeaClear didn’t work, “we decided we had to shift our approach to include all departments involved in clearance, not only Customs” says Bob Potter.
“It was a difficult decision, but I terminated the eSeaClear license issued to CCLEC effective June 30th ,” corrects Mr. Potter. “Customs plays a key role in the clearance process,” he continued, “but Immigration and Port Authority departments need to be included or the promise of a faster clearance for yacht masters doesn’t work.”
Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, Mr. John Maginley, spearheaded the initiative with funding and support across government to bring eSeaClear to an improved standard across Customs, Immigration, and Port Authority departments. Antigua and Barbuda is the first, and currently the only country to be fully compliant to the new eSeaClear service standard.
“We realize that this change has inconvenienced some eSeaClear users traveling to other countries,” says Bob Potter, “but we are hopeful that we can work with other countries in the region to come on board in the upcoming months.”
