COURSE DE L’ALLIANCE 2011 NOTICE OF RACE

NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (www.sailing.org)

1.2 No national authority prescriptions will apply.

1.3 CSA Minimum Safety Requirements Rule applies (www.caribbean-sailing.com).

1.4 For Multihulls only the CSA Minimum Safety requirement # 2 (lifelines) shall not apply.

1.5 Racing Rule 77 shall not apply (identification on sails).

1.6 The Sailing Instructions may also change other rules.

2 ADVERTISING
2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats in the following classes that may be subdivided.
CSA Monohull
CSA Rating Rule
Multihull St. Maarten
Multihull Handicap System

3.2 Boats may enter by the online entry system at www.coursedelalliance.com or by sending their entry form to the Marina Fort Louis by fax, mail or e-mail no later than November 24th 2011.

4 FEES
4.1 For all boats the entry fee is: € 110.00.

5 IDENTIFICATION
5.1 All boats are required to register their sail numbers for the use in identifying their boat.

5.2 It may be possible that bow numbers are used for boat identification. A deposit of € 60.00 will be charged for a set of bow numbers, payable at registration. Deposit will be returned when numbers are handed in after the race. But if bow numbers are handed in after January 1st 2012 then the deposit money will not be returned.

6 SCHEDULE
6.1 Registration will be at the St.Maarten Yacht Club, Thursday November 24th 2011. 3pm till 6pm.

6.2 The skippers Briefing will be at 6pm at the St.Maarten Yacht Club

6.3 Dates of Racing:
Friday November 25th: Race from Simpson Bay, St.Maarten to Gustavia, St.Barths.
Saturday November 26th: Race from Gustavia, St.Barths to Road Bay, Anguilla.
Sunday November 27th: Race from Road Bay, Anguilla to Marigot, Saint.Martin.

6.4 The warning signal on Friday November 25th will not be before 10:15am.
The warning signal for Saturday and Sunday November 26th & 27th will not be before 9:25am

7 RATING
7.1 Each entry in the CSA Monohull class must have a valid 2011 CSA digitally certified rating certificate.

7.2 Each entry in the Multihull class must have a completed Multihull rating form attached to their entry form.

8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1 The sailing instructions will be available at registration and may be available before hand online at the regatta website www.coursedelalliance.com.

9 THE COURSE
9.1 The courses will be Point to Point, around the islands of Saint Martin / St.Maarten, St.Barths and Anguilla.

10 PENALTY SYSTEM
10.1 For all classes Racing Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

10.2 The Protest Committee may, at its discretion, impose an alternative penalty in lieu of disqualification for any infringement, including safety requirements, with the exception of an infringement of the Racing Rules part 2.

11 SCORING
11.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series

11.2 A boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

12 RADIO COMMUNICATION
12.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones, etc.

13 PRIZES
13.1 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in each class.

14 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
14.1 Competitors participate in the Course de l’Alliance entirely at their own risk. See Racing Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

15 PHOTOGRAPHIC AND MEDIA RIGHTS
15.1 Competitors grant the Organising Authority the unrestricted right and permission to use the name and the image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the boat they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to press and TV advertisements or internet), for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information; in this respect, competitors names’ and any biographical material of themselves may also be used or reproduced in any way known.
