WORLD’S TOUGHEST ROW: PAMMIE TYSON Tuesday 28th January 2025
Antiguan Rower Pammie Nears Historic Atlantic Crossing Finish

Antiguan rower Pammie Tyson is just days away from completing the World’s Toughest Row, a grueling trans-Atlantic challenge. Alongside her teammate Nia Baylis, Tyson is nearing the finish line at Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua, with an expected arrival between February 2nd and 3rd, 2025.
The duo, rowing as Team LightShip, has been battling the tough conditions of the Atlantic Ocean for weeks in their R25 boat. As of January 26th, they had 390.4 nautical miles left to cover, after rowing an impressive 63 nautical miles in just 24 hours. Their consistent speed of 2.5 knots has kept them on track for their goal.
Pushing Boundaries
Team LightShip is ranked 29th overall, 8th in the pair category, and 5th among women, showing that the pair is more than holding their own in this tough competition.
But their journey isn’t just about racing across the ocean. Tyson and Baylis are raising awareness and funds for causes close to their hearts, including Kidney Wales, Epilepsy Action, and Antigua’s Elkhorn Marine Conservancy. Both rowers have personal connections to kidney health, making this challenge even more meaningful.
A Legacy of Sports Excellence
Pammie Tyson’s journey is a powerful symbol of the Tyson family's sporting legacy. With her son’s Olympic achievement and now her own Atlantic crossing, they are showing the world the strength and determination that runs through Antigua and Barbuda.
As Team LightShip approaches Antigua’s shores, their journey is not just about completing a difficult row—it’s about proving that with passion and purpose, anything is possible. Tyson and Baylis are not just finishing a race; they’re making a difference for causes that matter. Their inspiring journey is a reminder to never give up, no matter the odds.
