ANTIGUAN SAILOR ROCCO FALCONE LEADS TEAM TO VICTORY AT YOUTH AMERICA’S CUP Friday 27th September 2024
Rocco Falcone, an Antiguan sailor, has brought pride to his nation by captaining the Luna Rossa youth team to a triumphant victory in the prestigious Youth America’s Cup in Spain. Competing against top youth sailing teams from Sweden, Spain, and Australia, Falcone's team faced a thrilling semi-final, ultimately defeating the American Magic youth team in a high-stakes final match.
In challenging conditions with winds ranging from 12-16 knots and rough seas, the Luna Rossa team showcased exceptional boat handling and composure under pressure. Their sailboat achieved an impressive top speed of 52 mph, a testament to their skill and preparation. Falcone expressed his joy after the victory, stating, "A lot of hard work went into it. We spent the last three years going at it really hard, so it feels really good."
Rocco, who hails from a distinguished family of sailors, is the son of Olympians Carlo Falcone and Paola Vittoria and brother of celebrated sailor Shannon Falcone. Following his victory, Rocco is set to return to Antigua in early November to celebrate with supporters at home.

Shannon Falcone also celebrated success on the same day, as the Luna Rossa senior team won race one of the America’s Cup. Shannon has competed in numerous America’s Cups, adding further glory to the family’s sailing legacy.
