LOGGERHEAD TURTLE NOTICE Tuesday 19th October 2021
From AB Sea Turtles:
Attention swimmers! If you are swimming in the English Harbour area (more specifically Galleon and Pigeon Point Beaches), please be aware of a troublesome Loggerhead.
It is quite rare to find Loggerhead turtles in our waters but this one seems to have found a safe haven close to our shores. It looks as though it is old and/or in poor health and is staying in shallow waters to protect itself from predators out in the deep.
When feeling threatened it is relying on its only form of protection, biting and attacking first.
It is a beautiful thing to watch a turtle in the sea and it is understandable that we want to get up as close as possible. But we urge everyone in these waters to be aware of their surroundings and to always keep a good distance from any turtles, for your safety and theirs.
If you come across a turtle nest please do not touch it and call our team at +1-268-723-4853 or DM us on our social media!
