GREEN ISLAND MARINE CONSERVANCY Tuesday 26th January 2021
Mill Reef Club will be launching a new marine conservation initiative and reminds the visiting yachting/cruising community to be respectful of the area by refraining from discharging wastewater and /or litter and from damaging corals and/or seagrasses while anchoring.
Please read the full statement below.
"As the owner and steward of Green Island, Mill Reef Club will soon be announcing some initiatives aimed at improving and regulating the use of Green Island and the bays and beaches that surround it, for the better enjoyment of all. Being part of the North Eastern Marine Managed Area, NEMMA, we want to remind our visiting yachting/cruising community to be respectful of the area by refraining from discharging wastewater and /or litter and from damaging corals and/or seagrasses while anchoring.
In the coming weeks, we will be launching the Green Island Marine Conservancy, a charitable not-for-profit initiative aimed at protecting and restoring the coral reefs along the north-eastern coast of Antigua, preserving and perpetuating our natural marine ecosystems for the benefit of future generations in the years to come."
If you wish to make use of Green Island for any activity, please contact Andrew Hedley, Managing Director of Mill Reef Properties at ahedley@millreefclub.ag.
