RESULTS: TYSON AT EURO CHAMPS Wednesday 26th August 2020
Antigua’s Tiger Tyson recently represented the twin-island state in Poland at the Formula Kite European Championships, with tough competition and some of the world’s best on the start line among 92 competing athletes.
From Tiger Tyson: "The formula kite European championships which took place in Poland last month was an amazing experience for me, not only was I racing against multiple world champions as I successfully made it into the gold fleet (top 30 in the world), but I was also the only representative from all of the Americas. I am very thankful and proud to be able to represent my island nation in Europe, despite the global pandemic, and it was 100% worth it.
The conditions in Poland were quite obviously no where near similar to the dreamy conditions I have at home In Antigua, so this caused for some adjustments to be made, including cold water and lots of sea weed. But I didn’t allow this to discourage me as at tried my best in every race. Although I did have some bad races including some crashes and tangles with other competitors, I also had some of the best races in my kite foiling career as I was pushing myself right next to the top riders in the world.
Overall I see the event as a success as I came out of it with such an incredible experience, and also coming top 5 in the youth category and top 30 overall with over 90 of the best competitors in the world. I am now ready to train even harder than before because I know I could have done better and I know I can do better, so I really look forward to upcoming competitions.
Next potential competition: In December in Spain, hopefully it will happen, as long as the pandemic does not continue to get worse than it currently is."
See the wrap release for the Championships and stay tuned for more on Tiger as he continues to represent Antigua & Barbuda internationally.
