TIGER TYSON AT YOG QUALIFIERS Wednesday 10th January 2018
Antigua’s Tiger Tyson is now in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, and continues preparations for the YOG qualifiers for USA, Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, over 15th – 20th January. Stretching and exercising has begun with Tiger’s Coach Michael Gebhardt before his on the water training leading up to the competition, alongside his USA counterpart Cameron Maramenides.
While Tiger holds 2nd in the World in TT:R Slalom World Ranking 2017 – Under 19, this competition is especially important toward his goal of winning the Youth Olympics in 2018. If he competes successfully, these qualifiers will land him a spot in the Youth Olympics representing Antigua and Barbuda. Only one person gets through so it’s tough!
Tiger has recently gained full board sponsorship from Axis Boards, full kite sponsorship from Ozone Kites, and Eyewear sponsorship from Leech.
The Tyson Family worked to create the Antigua and Barbuda Kiteboarding Association (ABKA), which is the first internationally recognized Kiteboarding Association in Antigua recognized by the Olympic Committee. Check it out on the IKA list of Member National Class Associations.

Before leaving for DR, Tiger decked out in Antigua merchandise for the competition and also had a photo opportunity with the Honorable Minister Chet Greene.
