MORE CLUBS TO BENEFIT FROM GRASSROOTS GRANTS

Which regional clubs will join the 23 clubs which have already gotten development grants from the WICB and Digicel?

Clubs in ten countries have secured grants of up to US$5000 to assist with a wide variety of developmental needs including training programmes for young cricketers, refurbishing of facilities, acquisition of mowers and pitch covers and building of sightscreens and all weather batting nets.
 
In the latest round of grants, Kensington Cricket Club in Jamaica, the home club of former West Indies batsman and new WIPA President Wavell Hinds was one of seven clubs which received grants. Kensington CC will use the US$5000 grant to assist with the renovation of their clubhouse and gym.
 
More clubs stand to benefit from this widely acclaimed WICB and Digicel partnership programme. The fourth round of WICB Digicel Grassroots Grant application period is now open to all clubs across the region.
 
Cricket clubs and clusters across the region can apply to the West Indies Cricket Board for assistant grants in three main areas:
 
1.     Infrastructure development
2.     Strengthen training programmes
3.     Procurement of gear and equipment
 
The deadline for the second round of applications isJuly 30, 2012.

Pigotts Sports Club – Cricket gears and drive mower
Liberta Sports Club – All weather nets and training programme (double recipient)
 
Barbados
Isolation Cavaliers – Pitches and cricket gears
Pickwick Cricket Club – Covers, nets, boundary rope, cricket equipment
St Catherine Sports and Social Club – Ground preparation and land filling
 
Dominica
Tete Morne Grand Bay – Training equipment
Grand Bay Sports Committee – Covers, door and burglar bars
 
Grenada
St Andrews Cricket League – Washroom facilities and training programme (double recipient)
 
Guyana
Wakenaam Community Centre Ground – Sightscreen, ground levelling and rolling
Demerara Cricket Club – All weather batting nets
East Bank Demerara Cricket Association – Field and fencing
Georgetown Cricket Club – All weather batting nets
 
Jamaica
Kensington Cricket Club – Renovate clubhouse/gym
St Catherine Cricket Club – Bowling machine, practice balls, training equipment
Kingston Cricket Club – Training programme
 
St Kitts & Nevis
Pennyless All Star Cricket Club (Nevis) – Training equipment
 
St Lucia
Choiseul Cricket Coach Programme – Coaches, playing surface, pitch construction and cricket gears
 
St Vincent & the Grenadines
Radcliffe Sports Club – Training equipment
Neil Williams Cricket Inc – Training programme
 
Trinidad & Tobago
Alescon Comets Sports Club – Training programme
First Citizens Clarke Road United – Cricket gears and coaching
Orange Field Sports Club – Drive mower
Preysal Cricket Club – Gears and training programme
 
The total disbursement over the three periods is over US$120,000.
 
The entire application process has been significantly simplified. The process now includes an application form which is available online at http://www.windiescricket.com/grassroots and can be filled out online or downloaded and filled out. The WICB requires applicants to complete an application form and attached the relevant documents.
