INET PARTNERS WITH THE KENNY BENJAMIN YOUTH FESTIVAL
Saturday 8th January 2011

INET, the only DSL Internet Service Provider in Antigua and Barbuda is partnering with the Kenny Benjamin Youth Festival 2011 as the title sponsor of its U13s Workshops and matches, which will be held on February 05 and 06 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.
60 youngsters from four community teams based in St. John’s, All Saints and Liberta will have an opportunity to attend the two-day festival and learn new skills that will benefit them on and off the field of play. Curtis McKay, APUA Telecommunications Manager states that the Kenny Benjamin Youth Festival is just the vehicle the company has been looking for to work with young people in the community.

The company’s substantial sponsorship is a major boost for the event explains former West Indies fast bowler and Coach Kenny Benjamin:  “INET’s sponsorship will allow us to give the youngsters an amazing weekend and I have to thank Curtis (McKay) and his staff for sharing our vision and coming on board. They understand like us that in order for our sports to improve we all need to get involved whether we want to be organizers, coaches, or sponsors – everyone has a role to play from being a supporter, or as a mum or dad coaching their school/youth team, to raising funds. This is the kind of involvement needed to support the youngsters long before they don the world famous maroon cap or the shirt of their national team be it football, tennis or any other sport.”

Over the two days, the 60 youngsters will participate in fun, educational workshops, coaching sessions and play in a series of round robin matches: “Although cricket is the sport that brings us all together, we are focusing beyond the field of play teaching the youngsters skills that they can transfer to any sport, to school and their own community,” adds Benjamin.
The weekend will also offer adults the opportunity to attend taster workshops in coaching; event management; media relations; scoring and umpiring – mini sessions packed with information and practical tips that can be applied to community, school and club events.

The second annual Kenny Benjamin Youth Festival will be held February 05 and February 06 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.
