FACILITATORS FOR KENNY BENJAMIN YOUTH FEST NAMED Friday 21st January 2011
Plans for the second Kenny Benjamin Community Festival are full steam ahead. And participants will be able to register for the Adult Taster Workshops from Monday, January 24, 2011.
The six Taster workshops and facilitators are: Coaching with Kenny Benjamin; Scoring with Kattian Baltimore; Umpiring with Austin Christopher; Event Management with Marcella Andre and Media Relations with Brenda Lee Browne. The facilitator for the sixth work shop – Club development will be confirmed next week.
Lucia Mings one of the event’s organizers is urging persons to take advantage of this opportunity to learn from local experts with regional and international experience: “All the facilitators are both very passionate and knowledgeable and are really looking forward to the workshops, which they see as an opportunity to share information and hopefully encourage persons to get involved in sport and events in their community.”
Mings added that this year the adult taster workshops have been structured to allow persons to experience more than one workshop: “We want the participants to maximize their time and utilize the experts that will be on hand. They will also have an opportunity to apply what they have learnt by working with the U13s.”
The Adult Taster Workshops will be held on Saturday, February 05, at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds from 9:00 am and ending at 3:30 pm with distribution of certificates. Each session lasts 45 minutes and they are open to all: “we are encouraging Sports Clubs, Social Clubs to send representatives as well as interested individuals to get in touch with the organizers to register as soon as possible.”
Interested persons can contact Brenda Lee Browne, event organizer on 726 5468. Registration forms can be collected from Debbie at Sports and Games (YMCA).
