Director of the Community Development Division (CDD) Brenda Thomas-Odlum recently presented manager for the Government Residential Assistance and Care for the Elderly and Eligible (GRACE) programme Brenda Bennett with brochures on disaster preparedness for the elderly.
The brochure contains educational information on taking care of the elderly before, during and after a disaster. It also features several of the countries centenarians including the eldest person in Antigua Miss. Irene Carlos of Freetown who is 108 years old.
The GRACE programme offers non-medical home care to eligible seniors who wish to live in their own home, while receiving the care necessary to allow them to continue enjoying their normal lifestyle.
The brochures were reproduced through a collaborative effort between the CDD and the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).
Persons desirous of collecting a copy can do so at the CDD offices located at the Ministry of Social transformation or at NODS headquarters on American road.
