NODS NOW OPERATES ONE SHELTER TO HOUSE BARBUDAN RESIDENTS Thursday 5th July 2018
The National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) at Nugent Avenue is now the only official shelter for Barbudan evacuees being operated by the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).
The majority of the 122 persons, who were staying at the Nurses Hostel, have returned to Barbuda. Thirty-three (33) special cases are being accommodated at the NTTC, bringing the number at that shelter to 62.
Based on a report today (Tues.) from Barbuda, nine individuals are staying at the Sporting Complex on the sister-isle - one of the designated shelters for returning Barbudans, while the others have found alternative accommodations.
Meanwhile, NODS is reporting that items have been discovered missing from the Sporting Complex and there has also been the theft of batteries from generators earmarked to several buildings. The office is awaiting a report on the matter.
In the meantime, a report has been made to the Police.
